Are mornings losing their shine?

Is the idea of your mate sleeping next to you not as charming as it was before?

Is the couch becoming more attractive in terms of places to lay your head?

If you’ve answered yes to any of these questions, we’d venture to say that it’s time for a new mattress. When your mattress starts to wear down, it can have an effect on your entire day, making you lethargic and prone to pain and allergies. Why put yourself through that just to save a few more dimes? Here’s a short list of signs that indicate that your mattress has seen its last good night’s sleep:

  • When you’re feeling beyond your years – Sure you’re getting older; we all are. But when you get up in the morning, hurting and feeling worse than when you went to bed, it shouldn’t be attributed to your advancing age; it should be a red flag that your mattress has seen better days. You can get those better days back if you just spring for new box springs. (See what we did there?)
  • When sneezy isn’t just one of the seven dwarfs – If you find that you are sneezing or suffering from stuffy sinuses, it should serve as a warning that your old mattress is stuffed itself – with dust, mites and other allergens. Get rid of it and free yourself of those midnight sniffles.
  • When flat is used only in reference to the way you sing – Look, it’s important that your mattress be flat in order to support you in all the right ways. Nobody likes to hear the words lumpy and saggy at any time, but when they are used in reference to your mattress, there is something you can do about it.
  • When a home away from home sounds better than your actual home – If you find that you actually get a better night’s sleep when staying at a hotel or a family member’s house, you’ve got to understand that it’s time for a change. Consider a trip to your local mattress store right away.
